Edmonton, AlbertaThe Thelma Chalifoux 7-9 new Larkspur School is a significant addition to the Meadows community, providing space for 900 junior high students.
A key aspect of the design development of this project was the redefinition of the program. As a 21st-century learning school, it was essential that the team create a program and floor plan that maximized the allocated areas in line with modern educational principles. Led by the architectural team, the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) process included several workshops, seminars, and Big Room meetings, fostering collaboration and ensuring the floor plan met the needs of Edmonton Public Schools in an innovative and effective way. The early integration of structural, mechanical, and electrical components further strengthened the design and enhanced its efficiency.
