The unit includes nine dialysis stations and is purpose-built to meet kidney care standards. It features emergency power systems, advanced water treatment capabilities, and a robust IT infrastructure to support reliable operations. The inclusion of telehealth-enabled physician spaces supports remote care delivery and enhances clinical flexibility.

Extensive collaboration with stakeholders—including Saskatchewan Health Authority, Alberta Health Services clinical teams, Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, facility managers, and infection prevention specialists—guided the development of functional programming, equipment planning, and infection control strategies. The design aligns with CSA Z8000 healthcare guidelines and CAN/CSA-ISO 13959 water quality standards, with HVAC and plumbing systems tailored to meet IPAC requirements.

The project team prioritized early engagement and iterative design reviews, fostering a collaborative environment that supported innovation and responsiveness to client needs.
