Lloydminster New Fire Station #1

Lloydminster, Saskatchewan

In response to evolving operational needs, increased capacity demands, and limited space for on-call emergency personnel and administrative support, the City of Lloydminster decided to vacate the existing Fire Station #1 and construct a new facility designed to meet both current and future requirements for expanded service areas.

Our design objectives focused on creating a space that not only functioned efficiently but also provided an emotionally supportive and stress-relieving environment for its users. This was achieved through residential-style gathering rooms, natural light and connection to the outdoors, an earth-toned colour palette, biophilic wood accents, and soft, controlled artificial lighting systems.

The facility features three drive-through apparatus bays, a three-storey training tower with mezzanine spaces, a comprehensive exercise facility, staff kitchen and lounge, six sleeping quarters, locker rooms, washrooms, offices, and a boardroom. The workshop and gear storage/wash area are thoughtfully designed to accommodate the profession's need for designated Clean and Dirty spaces. The design integrates utilitarian spaces for training alongside more secluded areas for rest and relaxation. Additionally, the building includes a versatile training room and breakout room, available for multiple functions.
